Eco - Blackthorn
At Blackthorn we endeavour to act in an environmentally responsible manner and continually try to lessen our impact on the world we live in; from reducing and recycling our office waste to sourcing as much of our raw materials from environmentally aware companies as possible.
Our timber suppliers produce wood from sustainable and responsibly managed forests; they have
- Forest Stewardship Council accreditation (FSC)
- Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Scheme (PEFC)
and are committed to increasing the proportion of timber that comes from sustainably managed forests. We use low odour water based lacquers and Farrow & Ball paints which are all Eco Friendly water based paints that comply with the latest EU environmental legislation regarding the VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) content of paints. These top quality paints are also all low in odour and classified as either low or minimal VOC. Our waxes are some of the finest available and do not contain any Toulene (a known carcinogenic that can still be found in many other waxes), so not only are they safer and healthier to use but also safer for the environment and more ecologically friendly.
